REFERENCE REPORT: FRAPORT CARGO SERVICES GMBH
Frankfurt Airport is the largest European hub for air freight from all over the world. As an independent service provider for airlines, Fraport Cargo Services handles around 600.000 tons of air freight per year and prepares it for further transport. The goods range from urgent organ donations to computers and vehicle parts to heavy freight weighing up to 15 tons. Due to the versatility of the products, efficient logistics and smooth interaction of all components used are essential.
event / initial situation
The import and export, as well as the storage of a wide variety of freight goods, required a great deal of documentation work. All processes were mapped and organized in the in-house Scope software. However, the incoming and outgoing goods were recorded using paper lists, which were manually compared with the storage location and freight documents.
Solution
The use of a comprehensive WLAN network enables company data to be available anywhere and at any time. With WLAN-enabled mobile handheld and vehicle terminals, employees receive their picking, incoming and outgoing goods orders directly on their respective screens. Storage locations, aircraft load carriers or pallets are recorded using barcode scanning and all processes are transmitted directly online to the higher-level Scope system. Due to the continuous use of the mobile devices (shift operation), attention was paid to ensuring that the mobile devices had high battery performance and were robust. Downtime is avoided through an individual Integer service contract.
Result
The approximately 170 mobile forklift and handheld terminals communicate directly with the Scope system. All recorded data is immediately available for further processing in the system. The paper lists previously used are completely replaced by the mobile solutions. This results in fewer sources of error. Faster processing of the individual processes ensures increased productivity and increased storage capacity. The smooth process and the
