Replenishment orders can be very time-consuming and nerve-wracking. Especially when you are looking for the missing goods directly at the storage compartment so that they can be included in the reorder. Equipped with a notepad, pen, catalog and order form, the employee gets to work. First of all, everything is stored directly in front of the storage compartment and the EAN item number from the label is tried to be copied without errors. If there is no EAN number, the employee has to look for the correct item number from the catalog they brought with them. In order to be able to take notes, everything else is put aside and it can happen that the employee loses the complete overview. Once the employee has found and recorded the missing items, this still needs to be forwarded to the IT department. This process is often very error-prone. In addition, such an ordering process takes a lot of time and is therefore very expensive. We have the right solution for you.
The small data collector is practical for mobile recording of order items. This fits perfectly in any trouser pocket or, thanks to its light weight, can be worn around the neck with a lanyard. The data collector works like a conventional scanner and easily scans the barcode label on the shelf or item. The recorded data is collected directly in the device's internal memory and later transferred to another device via USB interface (batch solution). Depending on the model, a time stamp or an employee number can also be stored. In this way, if necessary, it can be clearly and unequivocally assigned which person carried out the recording. Once the employee has recorded all the items, the information is sent to the USB port on a laptop and forwarded to the ordering system.
A data collector with Bluetooth function is used for online data collection. The scanned code on the storage compartment or an item is transmitted directly via Bluetooth to an application running on the tablet or mobile computer. This link works quickly and easily as no changes are necessary on the mobile application. The data transmitted via Bluetooth is interpreted as pure keyboard input.
Order entry is even more convenient with a mobile computer. MDE devices often have a much larger memory and can also carry out order entry offline as well as online. The devices are also usually quite compact and robust and, like the handy data collector, can record 1D and 2D codes. The mobile devices are able to send the scanned data in real time to the central merchandise management system (ERP system) via WLAN or GSM. Thanks to the radio connection, master data can be compared and the data continuously updated. Reorders can be activated directly or customer orders can be initiated. The advantage here is that not only can the codes on the item be read in using a barcode scan, but the quantities can also be entered individually using the keyboard or touchscreen. Interacting with the higher-level system is much more convenient than with a pure data collector.
